PURPOSE: A piston clutch control device for a multiplate clutch and a method thereof are provided to properly control the rapid operation of the clutch piston by applying a control pressure to the clutch piston at an opposite side of the clutch piston, thereby inducing smooth coupling between a clutch plate and a clutch disc and reducing the transmission shock. CONSTITUTION: A piston clutch control device for a multiplate clutch includes a clutch piston(23) movable by an oil pressure, and a damping element(25) for applying a pressure resisting the oil pressure to the clutch piston, wherein the damping element has an oil chamber(24) for applying an oil pressure against the oil pressure to the clutch piston at an opposite side of the clutch piston.
