METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CONTROL VALVE TYPE LEAD-ACID BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a control valve type lead-acid battery preventing accumulation of lead sulfate at the negative electrode and being manufacturable without short-circuits. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the control valve type lead-acid battery includes enclosing in a battery jar 4 a group of electrodes consisting of a positive plate 1 and a negative plate 2 stacked one on the other with a flat separator 3 therebetween, and then retaining an electrolyte in the group of electrodes to effect in-jar formation. The separator 3 has a side edge 3b protruding from the side edges of the plates 1 and 2. After the in-jar formation, a spacer 10 is inserted between the separator 3 and the battery jar 4 to press the side edge 3b.
