<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce the distance between a magnetic head and the surface of a magnetic disk in a magnetic storage device that has a mechanism to drive a portion on which a magnetic head of a magnetic head slider is mounted. SOLUTION: The magnetic head slider has a driving means to change the distance between a member to which a magnetic head is mounted and the surface of a magnetic disk. The head is controlled to reduce the distance between the magnetic head and the surface of the magnetic disk when the magnetic head receives a recording or a reproducing command. The size of the movable member to which the magnetic head is mounted of the slider is stipulated to be equal to or greater than 0.1 mm square and equal to or less than 0.4 mm square. Thus, the follow up ability to the waviness of the magnetic disk surface and a run-out is effectively improved and further reduction in the distance between the head and the surface is made possible to meet the requirement imposed by a future high density recording.</p> |
