PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network remote control system where excellent operability is attained by a controller, and the quantity of data transfer between a controller and a controlled device can be reduced when the controller remotely utilizes a sophisticated function of the controlled device. SOLUTION: When a user moves a cursor and presses the 'enter' key, a VCR 1200 recognizes the control contents from a television receiver 1000 by taking in account a key position before and after the cursor movement. Furthermore, by moving the cursor nearly circularly, rotation of an image is instructed.
