PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic motor which can realize high efficiency of motor by generating a comparatively large torsional vibration of a rotor, and also to provide the rotor used for the same ultrasonic motor. SOLUTION: In this ultrasonic motor, an almost cylindrical rotor which is in contact with a stator is rotated in the predetermined rotating direction based on the elliptical vibration, by generating the elliptical mode vibration combining the longitudinal mode vibration and torsional mode vibration generated depending on such longitudinal mode vibration in the stator. The rotor includes a slit for converting the longitudinal mode vibration to the torsional mode vibration. The slip has a first aperture opening at the circumferential surface of rotor, a second aperture opening at one end surface in the side where the rotor is in contact with the stator, and a third aperture opening at the other end surface of rotor in communication with the second aperture. The slit is displaced in the rotating direction as the opening position of the first aperture goes toward the other end surface side from one end surface. |
