PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip-type resistor unit which can be reduced in size and more over can be made to easily and accurately obtain a wide range of resistance, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A chip-type resistor unit is provided with a pair of lateral electrodes (5 and 5) and a resistive film (2) interposed vertically between an insulating board (1) and a protective film (7) and edge face electrodes (8) electrically connected to the electrodes 5 and located at the edge faces of the insulation board (1); a resistive film (2) is provided on the insulation board (1); and a pair of the electrodes (5 and 5) isolated laterally from each other by an insulation groove (4) provided by trimming provided on the resistive film (2).
