PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture data receiving method, an adapter device and a portable terminal by which a cost and power consumption can be saved by reducing the memory quantity of a receiver. SOLUTION: In the receiver 2, encoded data received by a communication control part 25 is decoded by a picture decoding part 22c. A resolution conversion part 24 gives resolution conversion or clipping processing to the data in accordance with the picture processing ability of the receiver and outputs the data to a picture output part 21. Otherwise, after the resolution conversion or clipping processing, a picture encoding part 22b re-encodes the data and stores the data in a data memory 23, and a picture decoding part 22a decodes encoded data in accordance with instruction from a control part 20 and outputs the data to the part 21. |
