PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HD (horizontal synchronizing information) pulse generating means that is suitable for image processing employing HD and to provide a video signal processing unit, that is provided with the HD pulse generating means. SOLUTION: The pulse generating means 5 generates the tail end edge of a Csync as a tail end edge HD, and a missing pulse is detected, when the front edge is delayed from its substantial phase by about several microseconds to switchover to an interpolation HD. Thus, the tail end edge HD is selected up to time base fluctuations of about several microseconds to reflect faithful time domain fluctuations and to realize also an interpolation function.
