PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment having an Internet FAX function for operating facsimile communication by using the Internet as a communication path capable of simplifying the input operation of a telephone number at the time of making calling at the time of calling and connecting to the Internet by dial-up connection in order to perform facsimile communication by using a public telephone network and the Internet as the communication path. SOLUTION: When the telephone number of the communicating party is inputted at the time of making calling, whether a communication mode set by the mode setting means of a control panel is an Internet FAX mode or a public telephone network mode is judged (S302), and in the case of the Internet FAX mode, the gateway of an ISP is called with the telephone number of the gateway of the ISP which is preliminarily registered in a memory, and after its connection, the gateway is informed of the telephone number of the communicating party (S303). Afterwards, the facsimile communication is operated by using the public telephone network and the Internet as the communication path (S304).
