PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplifier capable of operating to control a plurality of modes without generating an increase in passing loss due to a switching element such as a switch or without increasing control. SOLUTION: The amplifier comprises an input terminal 101, a first switch 114 whose input is connected to the terminal 114 and having a plurality of outputs of which the whole or part of them can be selectively connected, a first amplifying means 112 and a second amplifying means 113 which are respectively connected to the outputs of the switch 114, a synthesizing section 116 for synthesizing the outputs of a plurality of amplifying means, a second switch 115 and a fifth matching circuit 111 which are provided between the output side of the means 113 side and the section 116, and a second matching circuit 108 provided in the output side of the means 112.
