IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can be easily sealed in a vacuum atmosphere and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The vacuum outer case of the image display device has a back substrate and a front substrate 11 arranged opposed to each other and a side wall provided between these substrates. A fluorescent screen 16 is formed on the inner face of the front substrate and electron emission elements are provided on the back substrate. A primary coat 31 and an indium layer 32 overlapping this primary coat are formed on the sealing face 11a between the front substrate and the side wall, and indium layer is formed in a pattern having many bending part 32a. By heating and melting indium in a vacuum atmosphere, the front substrate and the back substrate are mutually sealed through the side wall.
