PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structured document editing method which can automatically generate such a dynamic input form that elements which should be inputted change with the contents of elements and eliminates the need to correct and develop a program. SOLUTION: This method has a structured document analysis step for generating a document structure tree wherein the relation between elements in a stored structure document is represented in tree structure, a restriction elimination step for operating the document structure tree according to editing contents inputted from an input device so that document rules prescribing restrictions regarding the structure and contents of the document are referred to and met, and a picture display step where a document picture is generated from the document structure tree processed at the restriction elimination step by referring to a style sheet specifying information regarding a document style needed for the picture display and printing of the structured document and displayed at the display device.
