The invention relates to a duct running insulation and to a process of making the same used for manufacturing pieces ensuring the thermic protection and protection against corrosion of the district heating ducts, of the ducts from the installations for the chemical product synthesis, and of the installation connection ducts. According to the invention, the insulation consists of 2...4 layers made of polyester resin, hardener, accelerator, glass fiber, pigment, inorganic additives, aluminium powder and a layer of mineral wool of 30...120 mm, having a density of 30...100 kg/m3. According to the invention, the insulation making process consists in the fact that, after the matrix preparing, it is impregnated with resin, so that a layer thickness of 1...3 mm is ensured, then all the others layers are similarly applied till they get to a maximum thickness of 15 mm.The polymerization is realized in the piece mass, in two hours, at a temperature of 18...25 degree C and dimensional stabilization for 70 h, by storage, or for 2 h, at a temperature of 60...70 degree C, after that a polyester resin layer is applied on the interior side of the piece, and also a mineral wool layer, treated with a pasting agent, leaving for the end a 24 h polymerization time.
