A nucleic acid construct encoding a peptide with hydrolase activity and a heterologous localization signal which locates the peptide, upon expression of the construct in a cell, to a cellular location proximal to the cellular site of a glycosylated agent or a glycosylating agent. The construct can be used to produce, for example, organs suitable for transplantation which show reduced levels of the epitope Galalpha(1,3)Gal.
