The invention relates to methods or devices for providing the power supply of consumers in an internal combustion engine wherein the power supply is maintained for some time after the internal combustion engine has been switched off. Such a maintenance of voltage is referred to as after-run. The after-run is divided into a first and a second after-run phase, the start and the end of the corresponding after-run phase being initiated by a control device depending on predetermined conditions.
