The connector has a connector half (30), attached to the end of an electrical lead cable, inserted in a complementary connector half (27) attached to the housing of an electrical device and secured in place by a pivoted fixing clip. The cable connector half cooperates with a stop within the complementary connector half for compression of an elastomer seal, upon initial movement of the fixing clip, with further movement used for providing a retaining force which is greater than the sealing force.
