The machine component is moved in both directions along the linear guide through a drive (6) acting on one side. The component is under the action of an elastic or constant force (14) counteracting the drive. The force is greater by a multiple than the alternating stresses acting on the machine component. The counteracting force is a spring force such as from a gas compression spring or a hydraulic force. The counteracting force can engage on the same side of the machine component as the drive or on the opposite side.
