The invention relates to a method for modifying the protein structure of prions PrP in a targeted manner, in animal raw products for consumption or further processing, especially meat, subcutaneous apidose tissue, connective tissue, brain and bone, and/or for sterilising abattoir equipment, operating instruments or similar objects contaminated with infectious PrP, the raw products or equipment being subjected to a high pressure treatment acting on all sides, by means of a transmission medium.
