The invention relates to an analysis chip (10), e.g. a DNA array, on which a number of different types of molecules are immobilised in allocated spatial areas (14), respectively. A corresponding code is allocated to each type of molecule in a corresponding spatial area (24) on the chip. The code indicates which type of molecule is immobilised in the respective area. The code can be formulated according to the arrangement of the molecules, for example, if in an area of 5x5 spots, only certain spots are occupied, a binary code is formed. Alternatively, the code (24) can be formed on the chip independently of the immobilised molecules, e.g. as a two-dimensional binary code. The degree of certainty in the use of DNA arrays is increased since when the chips are read out with the help of the respective codes, it is even possible to determine which target molecules have been bound to and so which molecules were in the sample, without having recourse to external information. |
