<p>An image forming apparatus that includes at least one stabilisation surface arranged in conjunction with the image receiving surface, and stabilisation means for generating a transport of charged toner particles from the particle source through the apertures during predetermined stabilisation sequences, said stabilisation sruface being arranged for movement in relation to the printhead structure for intercepting the charged toner particles transported during said stabilisation periods. Such stabilisation means are preferably used to supply a stabilisation voltage to the control electrodes during said stabilisation sequences to generate a flow of charged toner particles through the aperture for dislodging residual charge therefrom. Said flow of charged toner particles can be continuous or intermittent and is preferably generated during a period corresponding to a predetermined number of consecutive print sequences, preferably 100 to 500 print sequences.</p> |
