PURPOSE: A device for tilting a steering shaft is provided to minimize damage of a driver by conveniently tilting and to compress or release a fixing plate and a fixing bracket by mounting a spring and a bracket. CONSTITUTION: A tilting device of a steering shaft comprises a steering column(51) mounted on a column bracket; a plate shaped stopper protruded on the steering column; plural arms contacted to the stopper; two rotary plates(3) inserting the stopper between the arms; an elastic unit attached/separated with a fixing plate(55) by extending a fixing bracket(53); a control button(4) compressing/extending the elastic unit; a brackets(5) penetrating the fixing bracket and the fixing plate; a spring(6) supplying elasticity into the brackets; spring sheets(7) supporting the spring; a through hole formed on the bracket to pressurize the spring sheet by the control button; a bolt fixing the control button on the spring sheet; a pin hole formed on the arm of the rotary plate; and a pin(11) inserted to the pin hole. The stopper is moved downward by breaking the arm of the rotary plate through impact transferred into the steering column.
