PROCESS FOR THE PURIFICATION OF FLUOROMETHYL HEXAFLUOROISOPROPYL ETHER

A process for the purification of fluoromethyl hexafluoroisopropyl ether whi ch involves contacting a crude composition fluoromethyl hexafluoroisopropyl eth er and hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol with a modifier to modify the vapour pressur e of the ether and/or the alcohol. The difference in vapour pressure of the ether and the alcohol increases relative to the difference in vapour pressur e of the ether and alcohol in the absence of the modifier and enables separati on of the ether from the alcohol. The modifier suitably is ammonia and/or an amine.
