PURPOSE: A composition containing a Betula platyphylla Sukatchev var. japonica Hara extract capable of inhibiting 5α-reductase activity to basically inhibit the excessive formation of sebum is provided which has an excellent effect on treatment of acne without substantive side-effects. CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises 0.01 to 10% by weight of a Betula platyphylla Sukatchev var. japonica Hara extract on a dry weight basis, which can be effectively used in treatment and prevention of sebum related diseases such as acne, sebum male pattern baldness, seborrheic dermatitis, etc.
