Belt band or drive pulley alignment device comprises first and secondary targets. Both targets are suitable for positioning on first and second belt pulleys and for illumination with a divergent planar laser beam. The laser light passes through openings in the first or second target so that it can illuminate projection surfaces that were previously shielded from view. The inventive device is a development of an alignment device claimed in US 6031616.
