Locating objects in a region surrounding a larger town (center) comprises determining the surrounding towns by directional vectors related to the center, and defining the objects in the surroundings of these towns by directional vectors related to the respective town. Preferred Features: The directional vectors have no length and/or only the main compass points and their first division (e.g. north, north east, etc.). The center can be defined by another prominent condition (e.g. a conurbation without a prominent central town center).
