organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of glyfosate by oxidation reaction catalyzed with a precious metal. Invention describes a method of synthesis of glyfosate, its salt or ester involving contact of the solution containing N-substituted glyfosate with oxygen in the presence of catalyst based on precious metal taken among the group including platinum, palladium, ruthenium, rhodium, iridium and osmium in order to increase glyfosate amount, its salt or ester in solution where N-substituted glyfosate has the formula (II): where R1 and R2 mean independently hydrogen atom, group hydrocarbon radical or substituted hydrocarbon radical with exception that both R1 and R2 are different from the group COOH; radicals R3,R4 R5 mean independently hydrogen atom, substituted hydrocarbon radical or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical or cation that is acceptable for agriculture aims. Invention provides the development of the method of synthesis of glyfosate and its esters and salts also by oxidation of N-substituted glyfosates and their esters and salts carrying a single N-carboxymethyl group. Also, invention describes an oxidation catalyst based on precious metal taken among metals of the VIII group of periodic Mendeleyev table.
