PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a quinacridone intermediate in high yield with high purity. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a 2,5-diarylaminoterephthalic acid (C) whose aromatic ring may have a substituent comprises introducing oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas (B) into a 2,5-diarylamino-3,6- dihydroterephthalic acid alkyl ester (A) whose aromatic ring may have a substituent under a basic condition to carry out oxidation followed by hydrolysis. In the process, a basic compound (D) is added dividedly in order to make the reaction system basic.
