TECHNIQUE FOR DETECTING UPPER EDGE/LOWER EDGE OF MEDIUM BY USING LINEAR ARRAY FOR FULL BLEED PRINTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer enabling full scale printing on a printing medium from one edge to the other edge thereof. SOLUTION: The front and rear edges of the printing medium are detected by using a medium detection switch and a linear array optical detector to adjust printing data to prevent the printing protruded from the edges of the printing medium. The medium detection switch also controls the feed operation of the medium, and the edges of the printing medium can be set to the detection visual field of the linear array optical detector.
