PURPOSE: A method is provided to prevent freezing of the damper caused when the refrigerator is stopped its operation at the state where the ambient temperature is lower than the temperature of the refrigerator. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of operating a compressor and a cooling fan, opening a cooling air cut-off film, judging whether the current temperature of the refrigerating compartment has reached to a preset temperature level, and maintaining the judging process until the refrigerating compartment reaches the preset temperature; a second step of closing the cooling air cut-off film, and judging whether the current temperature of the freezer compartment has reached to the preset temperature level, if the current temperature of the refrigerating compartment has reached to the preset temperature; a third step of returning to the first step, if the current temperature of the freezer compartment has not reached to the preset temperature, and stopping the operation of the compressor and the freezing fan and judging whether the ambient temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature level, if the current temperature of the freezer compartment has reached to the preset temperature; a fourth step of returning to the first step, if the ambient temperature is higher than the predetermined temperature level, and judging whether the refrigerator door is open and maintaining the judging process if the ambient temperature is lower; a fifth step of judging whether the temperature difference before and after opening/closing the refrigerator door is higher than a preset temperature level, and returning to the first step if the temperature difference is not higher; and a sixth step of opening the cooling air cut-off film for a predetermined time period, operating the freezing fan and returning to the first step if the temperature difference is higher.
