PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem that trailing of a striped pattern occurs to degrade the image quality when displaying an animation on a liquid crystal panel or the like. SOLUTION: An echo suppression circuit 100 divides a video signal into pairs of continuous frames and compares signal levels of frames of each pair in order to suppress an echo phenomenon which occurs when displaying the video signal including the animation on a liquid crystal panel 108. If signal levels of these two frames are different from each other, the signal is so corrected that these signal levels may have the same level. A controller 102 drives the liquid crystal panel by AC through a source driver 104 and a gate driver 106 on the basis of the video signal or the like corrected by the echo suppression circuit 100. The driving voltage to drive the liquid crystal panel by AC is thus adjusted so that polarities may be balanced with each other.
