PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that image quality is drastically affected by the deviation between the area centroid of a light passing port and an optical axis, as for a light controller. SOLUTION: As for the light controller provided with a drive transmission member 102 which is driven so that it may be rocked by taking the nearly center part between both ends as a center, a plurality of light shielding blades 111 and 112 separately and rotatably connected to both ends of the drive transmission member and mutually driven nearly opposite to each other in a plane orthogonal to the optical axis, and a guide member 120 for guiding linear parts to be guided 109 and 110 formed in the light shielding blades in an opening/ closing direction, and for controlling the light quantity by changing the area of the light passing port 113 formed by the light shielding blades, the shapes of the parts 111a and 112a constituting the light passing port of the light shielding blades are set so that the area centroid 3 of the light passing port may nearly align with the optical axis 1 in a range smaller than the open area but larger than the small diaphragm area in the whole variable range of the light passing port area.
