PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main rope twining prevention device at the time of an exchange work of the main rope. SOLUTION: The device is attached between rails of a pair of weight guide rails for guiding a lifting of a weight and is provided with a first travel mechanism part travelably and detachably attached to one rail; second and third travel mechanism parts travelably and detachably attached to the other rail; a first stretch part of which one end is turnably and pivotally mounted to the first travel mechanism part and the other end is turnably and pivotally mounted to the second travel mechanism part respectively; a second stretch part of which one end is turnably and pivotally mounted to the first travel mechanism part and the other end is turnably and pivotally mounted to the third travel mechanism part respectively; an engagement part disengageably laid between the first stretch part and the second stretch part; a main rope position restriction part provided on any one of the first or the second stretch part positioned at an upper side of a lifting direction of the weight; and a sheave for replacing a main rope provided on any one of the first or second stretch part positioned at a lower side of the lifting direction of the weight.
