PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method suitable for printing from edge to edge of a page along the width thereof by determining alignment of a sheet being fed easily in various types of printer. SOLUTION: A method for aligning the print engine of a printer with the edge of a sheet being fed to the printer from a sheet source comprises a step for printing a first calibration mark in the vicinity of the first margin on a first page, a step for printing a second calibration mark in the vicinity of the second margin on the first page, a step for comparing the first calibration mark with the second calibration mark, and a step for adjusting the print position of the print engine for the next page based on the comparison results.
