PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording fluid high in permeability and excellent in discharge/spray stability and conservation stability, a recording fluid cartridge accommodating the recording fluid, a recording method using the cartridge for speedily and stably forming a picture high in density but low in strike- through and an apparatus therefor, and a recording medium suitable for such printing. SOLUTION: The recording fluid contains, in addition to the coloring agent and water, a polyol with its solubility into 20 deg.C water being not less than 0.2% and less than 4.5% relative to the water weight and one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by formulas (1) and (2); the recording fluid cartridge accommodates the recording fluid; the recording method uses the recording fluid; the recording apparatus is provided with the recording fluid cartridge; and the recording medium uses the recording fluid.
