METHOD OF OXIDATION FOR PRODUCING ALKENE AND CARBOXYLIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for oxidizing a 2-4C alkane for producing the corresponding alkene and carboxylic acid each usable in an integrated method for producing e.g. ethyl acetate or vinyl acetate. SOLUTION: This method of oxidation comprises bringing an alkane, a molecular oxygen-containing gas and the corresponding alkene and optionally water into contact together in the presence of at least one catalyst in an oxidation reaction zone to form a product stream comprising the alkene, the corresponding carboxylic acid and water; wherein the molar ratio for the alkene and carboxylic acid formed is adjusted or maintained at a specified value by regulating the respective concentrations of the alkene and optionally water in the oxidation reaction zone and also regulating the pressure, temperature and residence time in the above zone.
