PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tripod for surveying which enables holding of a surveying pole at a specified angle by positioning the pole quickly at a reference point with the specified angle. SOLUTION: A tripod 1 for surveying is constituted of a surveying pole 3 with a GPS antenna 2 on the top thereof, a tripod 4 which has the surveying pole 3 vertically supported at a measuring point P and a controller 5 for controlling the tripod 4. The tripod 4 has an x axis control leg 6, a y axis control leg 7, a non-control leg 8 and a trip table 9. Upper ends of the legs 6 to 8 are mounted on the tripod table 9 with the angle thereof changeable and the x axis control legs 6 and the y axis control leg 7 are provided with motors 33 for extending or reducing the respective legs. The surveying pole 3 has an angle of inclination sensor 16 mounted thereon to detect the angle of inclination in the x axis and that in the y axis. The controller 5 controls the x axis control leg 6 and the y axis control leg 7 based on an output from the angle of inclination sensor 16 so that the surveying pole 3 is held vertically.
