PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a frictional material assembly having a restraint effect against squeak using an ordinary manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The position of a frictional material jointed surface of a backing plate 2 is set so as to be high at the central section (surface 4a) and low at both end parts or the outer periphery section (surface 4b) including both end parts. By generating a difference in the pressure to be applied to a raw material at the time of molding of the frictional material 3 making use of a difference (h) in height of its surface, the hardness of the frictional material at a section placed on the surface 4b is set lower than the hardness of a section placed on the surface 4a.
