PURPOSE: An electronic equipment and an electronic equipment activation method are provided to reactivate a device having a defect after all the devices are activated. CONSTITUTION: If an activation error occurs, after activation is executed for all devices, a device with the activation error is reactivated. When the power supply of a television receiver is turned on, a control unit reads last conditions from a memory(S1), and executes initialization according to the last conditions. When the television receiver is activated or the contents of settings are modified, if an activation error occurring in a tuner, a video processing unit, a sound output system, or any other device is detected, the activation error is recorded in a nonvolatile memory by setting a flag. A device recorded with the flag set is then restored.
