The present invention relates to an apparatus for warning a steering wheel and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, an apparatus for warning a steering wheel comprises: a vehicle speed detection unit detecting a driving speed of a vehicle; a vibration detection unit detecting vibration generated in a steering wheel; an MDPS motor generating vibration in the steering wheel; and a control unit outputting a vibration command value in the MDPS motor by receiving a warning signal from an emergency detection device to calculate vibration torque in accordance with a vehicle speed inputted from the vehicle speed detection unit, and outputting a warning signal while stopping an output of the vibration command value when excitation is generated by receiving a vibration value from the vibration detection unit to be compared to the vibration command value. |
