PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control line feeding for advancing a recording medium for high- resolution printing by much smaller line feeding motor steps. SOLUTION: An image is printed on the recording medium by (j) pieces of nozzles spaced at a smaller pixel resolution than a pixel resolution to be printed, and a recording medium line feed motor sends the recording medium in stepped increments. For each stepped increment of the line feed motor, a line feeding device driven by the line feed motor for sending the recording medium sends the recording medium by m×1/n pixels of the recording head pixel resolution wherein (m) and (n) are integers holding a relation m>n. The (j) pieces of nozzles are controlled on the basis of the number of increments of the line feed motor. Additionally, a printer driver calculates a line skip amount and a buffer offset amount, and adjusts a starting position in a printing buffer.
