PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of accurately realizing the target rotational frequency and achieving favorable warming up of a catalyst device in idling before the completion of warming-up of the catalyst device. SOLUTION: This control device is provided with an intake quantity control means for introducing the target intake quantity for warming-up of the catalyst device into an air cylinder in idling before the completion of warming up the catalyst device disposed in an engine exhaust system (step 105) and an ignition timing control means for controlling the ignition timing for warming-up of the catalyst device so that the target rotational frequency is realized to the intake quantity actually introduced into the air cylinder by the intake quantity control means (step 103).
