Provided are an electronic device and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, the electronic device includes: a communication unit which transmits and receives signals with another electronic device; and a control unit which analyzes identification information of other electronic devices included in the signals received from the other electronic device, determines whether the electronic device can control the other electronic device, and controls the communication unit to transmit a pairing signal to another electronic device to connect to that electronic device if the electronic device can control the other electronic device. Accordingly, a user can determine whether another electronic device can be controlled, connect to the other electronic device based on the determination result, and control the other device in connection.
