PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal having a scanner and a control method therefor are provided to improve a character series input work by scanning an image using a scanner and transmitting the scanned image to a wireless interval, or converting the scanned image into a character using a character recognition system and transmitting the character. CONSTITUTION: If a scanning control key is inputted(302), a light is radiated from an LED(Light-Emitting Diode) and a scanning is started(304). A CPU displays the scanned image on an LCD(306). If it is judged whether a re-scanning is performed(308). If the re-scanning is performed, the scanning is performed again. If the re-scanning is not performed, the scanned image is stored in a memory(310) and is transmitted using a wireless communication network(312).
