PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical module appliable as a variable optical attenuator or the like and excellent in workability in the case of being connected to another equipment. SOLUTION: The light emitting side of a 1st optical fiber 11 and the light incident side of a 2nd optical fiber 12 are juxtaposed, and a trapezoidal type prism 15 receiving emitted light from the 1st optical fiber 11 and refracting and emitting it to the light incident side of the 2nd optical fiber 12, and an optical filter 2 crossing coupled light emitted from the prism 15 and made incident on the 2nd optical fiber 12, are provided in a housing 10. The optical filter 2 is constituted to have the gradient of optical density in a direction Y along its filter surface. The optical module has a moving means 18 for moving the filter 1 forward and backward in a direction crossing the coupled light made incident on the filter 2, and the optical filter is moved in an optical density gradient forming direction (direction Y) of the filter 2 by the moving means 18. |
