PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper based alloy particularly suitable to use for an electric connector. SOLUTION: The copper alloy having a composition essentially containing, by weight, 0.15 to 0.7% chromium, 0.005 to 0.3% silver, 0.01 to 0.15% titanium, 0.01 to 0.10% silicon, <=0.2% iron and <=0.5% silver, and the balance copper with inevitable impurities has yield strength of >522 MPa and high electric conductivity of >80% IACS. The alloy further has substantially isotropical bending properties in the case the working route contains solid solution heat annealing at >=850 deg.C (14), the subsequent cold rolling (20) into a sheet, a strip or foil and bell annealing (22) put therebetween. As a result, the alloy is particularly suitable for forming a box type electric connector suitable for automobile and multimedia use. The alloy is also suitable for forming a rod, wire or parts. |
