PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve provided with a flow direction detecting device capable of avoiding limitation related to space, and cost increase in laying a pipeline, and detecting flow directions without badly affecting flow control of the pipeline. SOLUTION: A bypass passage 10 is provided in a cylindrical valve casing 7 in this valve 2 to bypass a valve element 6 for communicating a valve chest 8 on one side with a valve chest 9 on the other side. In this bypass passage 10, a magnetic movable body 11 which is movable in the axial direction of the passage by fluid flowing from the valve chest 8 or valve chest 9 into the bypass passage 10 is contained. By detecting the position of the magnetic movable body 11 moved by the fluid flowing into the bypass passage 10 by a position detecting means 12, its flow direction is recognized. In addition, a bypass valve 14 for allowing or disconnecting inflow of fluid into the bypass passage 10 or discharge of fluid from the bypass passage 10 to the valve chest 8 or valve chest 9 is provided.
