PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission which allows the arrangement of a trunnion on inner side to enlarge the capacity of the continuously variable transmission and the trend toward lightening. SOLUTION: The peripheral surface 71a of a power roller 71 is formed into a spherically convex face and a work face 71c having a cylindrical side face shape is formed at the end on the side of the external side face of the peripheral face 71a. A recessed section 71c is formed in the external side face 71b of the power roller 71, and the transmission face of the inner ring of a thrust roller bearing 32 is formed in the recessed section 71c. The crank-like pivotal shafts 73 and 73 on both side of the trunnion 72 are arranged on the outside of the upper end of the power roller 71.
