PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To seal a high pressure fuel pump with a reciprocating seal having rubber lips on the oil side and the fuel side by applying only low pressure with less pressure fluctuation to the reciprocating seal to secure sufficient service life. SOLUTION: Pressure at a reciprocating seal part can be communicated with the intake pressure side without specially providing an intake damper for restricting pressure pulsation on the intake side of this pump. Need of communication with fuel tank pressure is eliminated, piping to a fuel tank becomes unnecessary, fuel systems are simplified, and cost reduction can be achieved.
