PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert stay for a headrest which has good formability, whose weight per unit length is light, and which has high strength as well. SOLUTION: The insert stay 15 for a headrest is partially burried in the pillow part 11 of a headrest. The material of the insert stay 15 of the headrest is obtained by incorporating, by weight, 0.05 to 0.20% C(carbon), 0.005 to 0.05% Si(silicon), 0.80 to 1.60% Mn(manganese), 0.005 to 0.040% P(phosphorous), 0.001 to 0.020% S(sulfur), 0.010 to 0.100% Al(aluminum) and 0.020 to 0.060% V(vanadium) into pure iron.
