Fuel cell comprises a proton-conducting membrane (4) arranged between an anode chamber (2) and a cathode chamber (3). The anode chamber is made from a hybrid-forming and/or a hydrogen inserted material. The cathode chamber is made from an easily oxidizing material. An Independent claim is also included for a process for operating a fuel cell comprising introducing hydrogen to the anode chamber and an oxidant to the cathode chamber to produce a current, and simultaneously electrochemically charging. Preferred Features: The hybrid-forming and/or a hydrogen inserted material is a metal or metal compound, especially a transition metal compound such as Co-doped LaNi5. The easily oxidizing material is a metal hydroxide such as Ni(OH)2. |
